The works of the festival office of 18th International Film Festival of Kerala at the Kairali theatre is complete and is ready to welcome the delegates. The entrance of the office is a miniature model of the museum gate in the city.
Hyla Kumar, responsible for the making of festival office entrance since the last four years, says, “It was decided that festival office entrance should look similar to that of the museum gate and was selected because it is a major tourist attractions and one of the proudest structures in the city.” He added, “We made it sure that the festival office entrance resembles as much as possible with the museum gateway. Thus we were careful to trace similar style, colour schemes, etc. Even the measurements are in same proposition. For the same reason, the details of the whole gate are painted including the drawings of bricks instead of pasting printed paper as usual.”
The height and width of the entrance is 23 feet and 40 feet respectively. According to Hyla Kumar, it was a four days work. The materials used are plywood and thermocol.
Manu, a photographer, says, “This time, the festival office entrance is much better than that of last year’s which was in the shape of a camera.”
Festival office is where all administrative works, open forums, press meet, and VIP receptions are done. It will also provide computer facilities for foreigners and space for various film fraternity organisations. The daily bulletin is also uploaded from the office.
