Police said the accused were contract staff working in the pest control and cleaning department of the resort and they were hired from a manpower supply agency, Crow’s Pests Management. They zeroed in on Lakhinath and Presona Gam following a probe into a few pieces of a low-cost bracelet found in the woman’s room.
While verifying the photographs of a cultural programme of resort employees a month ago, police found that four persons, including three Keralites and Lakhinath, were wearing similar bracelets. Lakhinath confessed to the crime on interrogation and revealed the role of his accomplice.
“Lakhinath first raped the woman while Presona pinned her down. When she kicked Lakhinath off her body, Presona also tried to rape her,” superintendent of police (rural) A J Thomas Kuttysaid.
Police also found scars on the youths’ bodies, mostly on their right hands and shoulders, which the woman could have inflicted with her nails while resisting the rape.
Now God knows whether they are the right culprits
